FG-0208 Security Operations

Description

Implement continuous monitoring and threat detection for AI operations. AI agents operate at machine speed: they can create, modify, and delete faster than human oversight can follow in real time. Security Operations establishes automated anomaly detection that watches for unusual behavior, unauthorized access attempts, and policy violations. This is your SOC for human-AI collaboration.

Implementation

Define what constitutes anomalous agent behavior (unusual file access patterns, attempts to access sealed content, operations outside defined scope). Implement automated alerts for these patterns. Designate a security function (human or agent) responsible for monitoring and response. Review alerts regularly to tune signal vs. noise.

Success Indicators

  • Anomalous behavior is detected and flagged automatically
  • Security events are logged with sufficient context for investigation
  • Alert fatigue is managed: alerts are meaningful, not overwhelming
  • The team has a defined incident response procedure

Failure Modes

  • Monitoring without response capability: detecting problems you can't act on
  • Over-alerting: so many false positives that real alerts are ignored
  • No monitoring at all: relying entirely on trust and after-the-fact discovery
  • Monitoring that degrades agent performance significantly

Sub-Methods 4

FG-0208.001 Perimeter Audit Protocol

Systematic sweep of all exposed surfaces: DNS records, deployment endpoints, access policies, SSL certificates, redirect chains. Run on every new deployment and monthly thereafter. The audit answers one question: what can an unauthorized person reach? Document every finding and track remediation to closure.

FG-0208.002 Deployment Inventory

Maintain a canonical list of what is deployed where, with access controls documented for each entry. Every deployment has a domain, a hosting provider, an access gate, and an owner. When the inventory is incomplete, shadow deployments accumulate: stale DNS records, forgotten subdomains, and bypass routes that no one monitors.

FG-0208.003 Runbook Creation

Every security finding becomes a repeatable checklist. The first audit is investigative; every subsequent audit is a runbook execution. Document the exact steps: what to check, what tools to use, what a passing result looks like, what a failing result requires. Runbooks turn tribal knowledge into institutional capability.

FG-0208.004 Fix Verification

Test fixes before declaring victory. DNS changes need propagation verification. Redirect rules need curl testing from outside the network. Access policies need unauthenticated probe attempts. The fix is not complete when the configuration is changed; the fix is complete when the verification proves the exposure is closed.
